Used-car buyers 'worried about environment'
An increasing number of used-car buyers are taking the environmental credentials of their vehicles into account, according to one personal finance provider.
Experian has released the results of its used car environmental report that suggests ecological mores are becoming higher on the average consumer's priority list.
This is partly due to greater costs associated with running a car with poor green credentials, such as plans for higher vehicle excise duty on those emitting high levels of CO2.
Kirk Fletcher, managing director of Experian's automotive division, said: "New car dealers are required by law to display the CO2 emission and vehicle excise duty information on all their new stock.
"Customers are much more aware of the effect these factors have on the environment and their pockets, so they are asking more questions."
Experian plans to supply such information in the form of its used car environmental report, providing help with money to both dealers and the general public.
The money news follows recent research from the same firm revealing that so-called superminis are comprising an increasing proportion of the used-car market in the UK.
