Switching bank accounts 'becoming easier'
It is becoming increasingly simple for consumers to swap from one personal finance provider to another, it has been claimed.
Representative body the British Bankers' Association states that it has never been simpler for consumers to choose which firms provide them with help with money.
However, it adds that in reality is has never been very difficult - arguing that public perceptions have not matched the reality.
Brian Capon, spokesperson for the association, remarks: "It probably is easier these days but it's never been difficult. Of course people do shop around for the best deals to suit their own purposes and according to what their circumstances are."
He added that swapping accounts was simply a matter of planning and that the new provider would likely be more than happy to ease the process as much as possible.
However, in related finance news the Financial Ombudsman Service has stated that complaints about moving from one current account to another have increased 50 per cent in the last year.
