Older travellers 'are able to travel more freely'
Older consumers are starting to travel further afield because they have both more time and money with which to embark on such trips, it has been claimed.
According to Alliance and Leicester, a combination of children leaving home and retirement frees up the time and resources for the demographic to head off overseas with more ease.
Meanwhile, for those who have funds less immediately available, help with loans could be one way of jetting off on the trip of a lifetime.
Steve Gracey, spokesperson for the personal finance firm, remarks: "There are a number of reasons why these people stand out from the crowd and that's why we've launched a specific current account for this area - because they do have certain needs, they do have certain wants."
The money news follows research carried out by the firm which reveals that as many as 11 million people over 50 plan to go travelling in the next five to ten years.
