Eurostar 'will open up France to commuters'
The new Eurostar service operating from St Pancras is set to open up the property market in France to those working in London, it has been claimed.
According to market commentator Cluttons France, the suburbs currently surrounding the capital could now take hold across the channel as higher numbers flock to enjoy the continental lifestyle.
Olivier Morvan, director of Cluttons France, said: "It will affect greatly northern parts of France - Brittany et cetera - but it's for the lower end of the market. When I say 'lower end', it's not in terms of quality, it's just in terms of price."
He added that there are good quality homes requiring that the average buyer seek less help with money in the north of France, as the property market is cheaper than in Britain.
Eurostar launched its service from St Pancras, its new London hub close to King's Cross, on November 14th this year.
