Dollar-based interests 'can be good for Brit investors'
While making investments in familiar companies with a sterling trading base may have the advantages of more immediate understanding, investors might like to consider looking further afield to gain the most help with finance, according to one company.
Independent global consultancy Knight Frank has stated that the dollar is likely to continue to trade low against the pound and the euro in the coming year.
This could well make assets based on the dollar an attractive proposition for UK and European buyers, it added.
Nick Barnes, a partner in the residential research department of Knight Frank, said: "The likelihood in 2008 is that the pound to dollar exchange rate will hover at or just below the $2 mark."
He added that, while the US stock market may have struggled in recent months, their may be gains to be had by "canny" investors seeking the best possible help with money.
Countries whose currencies are directly associated with the US dollar include the Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Hong Kong, Jordan, the Maldives, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
