Christmas spending monitoring 'is important'
People worried about the state of their debts should be careful to monitor their spending this Christmas, according to debt advice charity the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS).
The personal finance advice institution has warned that many people find themselves needing help with money or falling into bad credit because they do not appreciate the full extent of their spending.
James Ketchall, spokesperson for the CCCS, stated that while one Christmas might not present an insurmountable problem, building debts over an extended period could make the period one spending session too far.
"If you have a poor credit rating there is a reason for that," he asserted.
"People need to take that into account when taking out their loan or credit card and realise the full cost of that Christmas."
The CCCS is a registered charity providing help with finance advice to consumers throughout the UK.
It provides free and impartial debt advice intended to help people gain a realistic understanding of their personal finance situation.
