Carbon neutrality 'can be expensive'
Ensuring that a three-bedroom property is fully carbon neutral can be an expensive business, according to the latest finance news from Alliance & Leicester.
The financial services firm suggests that make a home environmentally-friendly can cost thousands of pounds and could be a good reason for homeowners to look out for a cheap personal loans deal.
Despite the initial expense, Alliance & Leicester is convinced that making a home carbon neutral can ultimately be a good way to avoid trouble with debt, given the savings that can be made through lowered household energy bills.
"Nowadays more and more people are giving environmental considerations and their carbon footprints a higher priority," said Richard Al-Dabbagh, senior personal loans manager at Alliance & Leicester.
"There are lots of diverse ways homeowners can try and make their homes greener but it all depends on how much people want to spend."
A recent study by the HiFX company suggested that having an overseas holiday home can increase a British consumers carbon footprint by as much as a third.
