Pensions top list for IFA enquiries
More Britons consult independent financial advisers (IFAs) for guidance over pensions than any other financial product, it has been claimed.
In April 2006, the government opted to reform the pensions system so as to allow investors to save money in a personal pension while also maintaining a company pension scheme.
According to David Elm of IFA Promotions, this change in regulations has meant that pensions have been the subject of more enquiries since this date than any other facet of personal finance.
However, as a result of the turmoil in the mortgage market this could be set to change in the coming months with home loans superseding mortgages at the top, he predicted.
Mr Elm said: "Can we describe the current mortgage market as volatile? Yes, I think we could.
"If we are to learn anything from what happens on the investment side, it would seem reasonable to assume that mortgage advice is going to be valued more in current conditions."
