Millions holding out for house price falls
Millions of Britons are eagerly anticipating the further decline of property prices, a new survey has shown.
In a poll conducted by the BBC, 28 per cent of those surveyed said they were hoping for a fall in property prices.
This compares to the 22 per cent who said they were hoping for an increase.
The lion's share of respondents, meanwhile, said they wanted house prices to stay as they are.
News of the findings comes amid a series of reports from lenders which testified to the deepening slowdown in the UK property market.
The monthly house price survey from Halifax recorded a drop of 1.3 per cent in property values in April, bringing the price of a home down one per cent year on year.
Consumers were surveyed by the BBC after the broadcaster's TV programme The Truth About Property came across a high proportion of people who are holding out for a decline in property values.
