Leeds revamps Inflation Buster ISA
Leeds Building Society has revamped its Inflation Buster Interest Savings Account (ISA) to offer consumers "a real return on their savings".
The new account is linked to the Retail Price Index, the official measure of the cost of goods, with Leeds pledging that the rate of interest on the account is guaranteed to beat this by 2.5 per cent.
Karen Wint, general manager of the company's marketing and customer services unit, said this feature of the account would effectively insulate savers from soaring food and energy prices currently being noted in the UK.
She commented: "Savers have seen their real return eroded with prices increasing by 4.20 per cent in the last 12 months and, with the prospect of rising inflation, we expect demand for the Inflation Buster Bonds to be very strong. We are now launching another tax free version, which is extremely attractive in the ISA market."
