Landlords 'losing faith in buy to let sector'
Optimism over the future of the buy to let sector has slumped, according to new figures.
In a poll of landlords conducted by buy to let insurance broker the Money Centre, close to half (48 per cent) of those surveyed said they were fearful over the direction of the market.
This is the highest level recorded by the firm for 12 months.
However, 52 per cent of the sample said that their prospects are either "good" or "very good".
Lynsey Sweales, director of the Money Centre, said: "Buying property is always best viewed as a medium to long term investment option and that is how most buy-to-let landlords see it.
"The research shows the average length of time landlords expect to be in letting is 17.5 years, which is why scaremongering over house prices dropping is not a major concern for professional landlords."
