Govt proposals could cut cost of car insurance
Drivers could be given the chance to cut their motor insurance premiums as part of a new government-backed scheme.
The scheme consists of a series of advanced driving courses, which the government hopes will improve the skills of the UK's motorists.
Signing up to the scheme would result in significantly discounted car insurance costs, with insurers understood to have agreed to cut premiums by 25 per cent for those who finished the courses.
Young drivers are set for even more marked reductions, according to a report from the Telegraph.
An unnamed source from the Department for Transport source said: "We want people to go on improving their driving skills throughout their driving careers.
"This is about creating the right sort of education and incentivising people to do it."
The course will be devised and approved by the Driving Standards Agency and are set to cover motorway driving and braking at high speed.
