Debt becomes a talking point
As the credit crunch bites debt issues have become the number one topic of conversation among hard pushed Brits, a new survey has revealed.
A poll by IVA.co.uk of 1,000 Britons aged 16-64 about their credit and debt habits found over a quarter (27 per cent) admitted to talking with friends and relatives about their financial problems.
Divided by gender, women are slightly more open about financial matters, with 28 per cent discussing their problems, compared with 25 per cent of men.
Andy Davie, spokesperson for IVA.co.uk said: "The stigma associated with debt is changing. As more and more Britons struggle with their finances, it's becoming acceptable to say I have a problem with debt. Many people are investigating the possible solutions open to them but rely heavily on the advice that they receive.
"I would urge anyone looking for reliable information to talk to at least three different organisations."
