Concerned Brits consult IFAs for mortgage advice
The slowdown in the property market is driving more and more people to consult independent financial advisors (IFAs), new figures suggest.
According to Unbiased.co.uk's Advice Drivers report the number of homeowners seeking advice from an IFA during the first three months of this year stood at 29,535.
This represents a rise nearly two-thirds over just three months.
The site also detected a 33 per cent rise in requests for advice on investment, which David Elms, chief executive at Unbiased.co.uk, attributed to the jitters caused by the credit crunch and predictions that the global economy could be poised to enter recession.
He said: "Our latest report demonstrates that when economic conditions are unpredictable, consumers seek independent financial advisers as their guides through hazardous markets.
"Consumer needs are constantly changing and whole-of-market IFAs are the best-positioned of all advice types to serve these needs."
