Brits pay extra for sea views
Properties in seaside towns are continuing to benefit from strong demand, despite the slowdown in the wider property market.
In a study conducted by PropertyFinder.com, one in five of people surveyed said they would pay over 20 per cent more for a home if it boasted a view of the sea, while three per cent said they would pay as much as 45 per cent more.
Meanwhile, ten per cent of the sample said they would pay ten per cent extra.
PropertyFinder's major clients director Nick Leeming said: "It is a good sign house hunters are still willing to pay top dollar for homes with sea views; it would seem that the turbulence in the property market recently hasn't completely destroyed consumer confidence.
"It is also good news for people who already own property by the seaside, who might have had concerns about selling in the current market."
The seaside town deemed the most desirable location for a home by respondents to the property web site's survey was Brighton, followed by Bournemouth and Porthcawl in Wales.
