Alliance & Leicester launches new investment offer
Alliance & Leicester has announced the launch of a new offer aimed at investors seeking to balance "short-term security with long-term growth potential".
The offer combines the lender's Fixed Rate Savings Account, which features an interest rate of nine per cent, with the Portfolio Bond from Legal & General.
Savers can benefit from the security that their savings deposit in the fixed rate account will grow by guaranteed sum by the end of its one-year term.
They also stand to gain in the long term, through the bond, which entitles holders to access a wide range of funds and investment opportunities with the potential to deliver higher returns. This investment is, however, not guaranteed by the lender.
Matt Hall, head of savings and investments at Alliance & Leicester said: "This plan balances the need for a safe haven for short term savings, whilst providing the opportunity to invest over the longer term for potentially higher returns than from a typical savings account.
"The Balanced Savings & Investment Plan suits those who are looking to make their money work harder, but still like the security of keeping some of their funds in cash."
