Sellers should watch out for bargain hunters
Nervous house sellers will need to be on the lookout for bargain hunters as the housing market slows.
The credit crunch and inflationary pressure are squeezing the British economy and house price growth is suffering.
With mortgage payments rising and 1.4 million people coming off mixed rate deals this year many homeowners are going to be facing financial difficulties.
And while landlords are also being affected by less attractive lending conditions, they will nonetheless be on the lookout for a bargain.
"Experienced landlords will always buy if they consider they are getting value for money," said Les Dribben, chairman of the Residential Landlords Association (RLA).
The kind of people investors will be looking for are those struggling with their new repayments and worried about where the housing market is heading.
Investors may find they can put in a very low offer and pick up a valuable addition to their portfolio for a reduced price.
