Savers urged to fill up their Isas
Savers have been urged to take full advantage of their Isa allowance before next month's deadline.
There is just one month left of the current tax year, meaning time is running out for anyone who has not deposited the maximum tax-free amount.
Nationwide, the building society, said collectively savers were wasting £225 million.
"With only a month remaining in the current tax year, people should make sure they are taking advantage of the tax-efficient savings on offer by using all of this year's Isa allowance," said Matthew Carter, Nationwide's savings director.
"Any part of their allowance remaining unused by April 5th will be lost forever.
"Millions of people fail to do this each year and are simply allowing their hard-earned money to line the chancellor's coffers," he said.
Other Isa providers, such as Barclays, have reported a rise in Isa deposits during January and February.
However, research out this week from Sainsbury's Finance found that overall people were saving less than last year.
