Investors encouraged to play fair
Investors are being urged to consider ethical issues when deciding where to put their money.
Fair trade fortnight will draw attention to ethically-sourced goods, many of which are now popular lines in mainstream stores.
But campaigners are also keen for people to consider where their money is being invested.
"Although banking habits are not always at the forefront of people's minds when fair trade is mentioned, some banks and building societies are looking to make a difference," said James Caldwell, director of the personal finance website fairivestment.co.uk.
"Ethical banking has grown in popularity in recent years as consumers become more determined to make socially informed choices in terms of where they keep their cash."
Institutional and private investments can have a significant influence on the policies of companies and even countries.
