Investments in emerging markets 'offer long-term rewards'
Britons have been advised to consider investing in emerging markets for lucrative returns this year.
Meera Patel, a senior analyst with Hargreaves Landsdown, identified tiger economies such as China, Brazil and India are a good bet for long-term investments.
She said: "We are keen on the long term growth story for Asia and emerging markets and we believe a regular savings into these higher risk regions is a great way to benefit as you buy shares when the prices are low."
Ms Patel also recommended that investors looking to maximise returns this year take full advantage of opportunities for tax-free savings.
She said: "Investors should make use of their tax efficient vehicles like Independent Savings Accounts (Isas) and Self Invested Personal Pensions (Sipps) before we draw a close to the end of this tax year.
"Nervous investors need to realise that they can hold cash in a stock and shares Isa and a Sipp as long as they intend to invest the money when they feel more confident about markets".
