Ethical investment expo planned for May
A new expo to highlight the benefits of ethical investment is to be launched in May, the UK Social Investment Forum (UKSIF) has announced.
The National Ethical Investment Week will take place between May 18th-24th and is being backed by Henderson Global Investors, Norwich Union and Friends Provident.
It is hoped that it will attract representatives from the financial services sector as well as "grass-roots consumer influencers" such as charities and non-governmental organisations.
Penny Shepherd, chief executive of UKSIF, told the Observer: "Behaving in ways that can help benefit the environment or society is becoming increasingly mainstream - choosing a green and ethical investment can be another way of acting responsibly but many people are still not aware of this option."

According to the Ethical Investment Research Service, UK-based ethical and green retail funds managed some £8.9 billion at the end of December last year.
