Halifax unveils new Regular Saver account
Halifax has launched a new savings account offering a best buy rate of ten per cent for a limited period.
The Regular Saver account will pay ten per cent on balances for a year, with a leading maximum monthly deposit of £500.
Savers who deposit and maintain a further £5,000 in a nominated Halifax savings account can benefit from an additional two per cent interest rate to bring the rate to 12 per cent.
The account is one of the few on the market which is not linked to a current account and is open to both new and existing customers.
Tony Wilcox, head of savings at Halifax, said: "This is the market leading regular savings account. It is now even more attractive for savers to establish that all important regular savings habit."
The Regular Saver account was named the best on the market in a poll conducted by price comparison web site moneyfacts.com.
Second-placed in the rankings was Barclays Bank's monthly savings account which offers a rate of 7.49 per cent.
