Friday 13th spooks home movers
Superstitious Britons are set to contribute to the slowdown in the housing market today, as fear of Friday 13th discourages thousands of people from moving home.
According to data from MoveMe.com, the impact of superstitions that surround the date is such that few people are planning to move today than on any other Friday in June.
Keith McNeilly, co-founder of the site, said: "Despite the popularity of Fridays for moving home fewer people are planning to move home this Friday.
"On a day already fraught with anxiety few movers want the extra stress of worrying that their move will go wrong because of superstitious worries. "
He added: "In fact, we have had reports from a number of users who have instructed their lawyers to avoid completing on the sale of their home on Friday the 13th."
According to the Stress Management Centre and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina the US, up to 17 to 21 million people in the United States are affected by a fear of this day.
