Dual fuel tariffs cheaper than fixing
Online dual fuel offers remain a cheaper option than fixed tariffs for the time being, new research reveals.
With wholesale energy costs set to soar this year, analysts are predicting that customers will face significant hikes to their gas and electricity bills.
This is turn is set to fuel a rise in the number of households opting for capped tariffs as they seek to insulate themselves from the increases.
However, under current terms, online dual fuel tariffs are significantly less costly, according to moneysupermarket.com.
To support its claim, the site highlighted the example of British Gas Price Guarantee December 2009, which is more than £200 more expensive than the cheapest online dual fuel tariff from British Gas, Click Energy 5 at £845.
Meanwhile, the EON capped offer is £163.63 more expensive than its most favourable online dual fuel tariff.
Scott Byrom, utilities manager at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Brits looking to stay on the cheapest deal available should consider dual fuel online products."
