Brits urged to use credit card reward schemes,
Britons planning to spend during the summer sales should ensure they maximise their outlay by using a credit card with a reward scheme, a card provider has advised.
Donald MacLeod, head of cards at Sainsbury's Finance, issued the advice after a poll conducted by the company found that the majority of Britons had no plans to cut down on their spending in this year's sales.
The poll showed that 63 per cent of respondents plan to spend the same as they did last year, while eight per cent intend to lavish more on purchases.
Mr MacLeod said: "If you are going to use a credit card in the summer sales, it pays to use one that gives you attractive rewards that are not only easy to collect but also redeem so that you really are earning whilst you spend and getting a little back."
Sainsbury's Finance estimates that around 42 per cent of summer sale spending - some £3.29 billion - will be placed on credit cards.
