Brits favour state pensions to fund retirement
State pensions remain the most popular way through which Britons hope to fund their retirement, new research has shown.
In a study conducted by Unbiased.co.uk, 50 per cent of those surveyed said they planned to use a state pension to fund or partly fund their retirement.
Meanwhile, 40 per cent said they intend to do so with an occupational pension scheme, which would typically provide them with a more substantial income.
Also popular is depositing money in a specially designated savings account and with a private pension, which accounted for 25 per cent and 23 per cent of the sample respectively.
Other findings from the survey were that a distinct discrepancy exists between the sum men and women invest in private pensions.
The average sum for a man was £180, while women were putting just £155 into the plans.
