Young children top cause of household accidents
Young children are the cause of hundreds of thousands of home insurance claims every year, it has been revealed.
According to Tescocompare.com, young children are responsible for 850,000 accidents in UK homes annually, causing a total of £229 million of damage.
The high incidence of children causing household accidents means that they are the number one cause of mishaps in the home, accounting for four in ten of all recorded.
By way of comparison, adults are responsible for around three in ten.
Paul Baxter of Tescocompare.com said: "As the saying goes accidents do happen - and this research suggests many of us suffer financial loses on an annual basis.
"What is worrying is that over four in ten (41 per cent) of us don't cover ourselves for accidents in the home - leaving us at risk of being seriously out of pocket."
