Standard of hospitals impacts on house prices
The proximity and standard of local healthcare can significantly impact on house prices, it has been revealed.
In a poll of estate agents conducted by FindaProperty.com, 39 per cent of the sample said they the opening of a new hospital would prompt a rise in the price of local property.
Meanwhile, 74 per cent of those surveyed said that the closure of a local Trust would impact negatively on house prices.
Michael O'Flynn, content editor for the online property portal, said: "While property buyers always examine, for example, how the local schools perform when they are looking into an area, this research indicates that good medical facilities also have a significant impact on perceptions and prices.
"People take comfort from knowing that there are good medical facilities on the doorstep, so perhaps it’s time that hospitals were added to the traditional list of key selling points - schools, transport links, and green areas."
Homebuyers were even more convinced of the effect that healthcare can have on prices, with 77 per cent saying that a new hospital would boost values.
