Kids cause £0.5bn of damage annually
Children cause millions of pounds of damage to electronic gadgets in UK homes every year, it has been claimed.
According to home insurance provider 'Sheilas' Wheels, the total annual bill for replacing kit damaged by children stands at £500 million.
This equates to each child causing an average of £183 of damage per year, with mishaps involving DVD players revealed to be most common, followed by games consoles and TVs.
Jacky Brown, spokesperson for Sheilas' Wheels home insurance, said: "School holidays are a prime time for breakages as bored kids can wreak havoc at home - potentially causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.
"That is why accidental damage is so important for families. If the Wii controller slips out of your hand or juice gets spilt down the TV there won't be a hefty bill to repair the damage or buy a replacement."
