Halifax releases new student account
Halifax has unveiled what it claims to be the market leading student bank account.
Features on the new account include an interest-free overdraft of up to £3,000 for up to five years while studying and one year after graduating.
As well as this, the bank is offering 25 per cent off membership to the AA for one year, as well as a 20 per cent discount on card protection insurance - something which may be of interest to individuals wishing to keep control of their personal finance.
Head of banking at Halifax Mike Reigner said: "By choosing a Halifax student account, students with an overdraft could make a real saving."
He added that the bank will also pay gross interest of two per cent to students who keep their account in credit.
Earlier this month, Halifax noted that school fees are now rising at more than twice the rate of inflation.
