Brits fearful of energy price hikes
Increasing numbers of Britons are becoming concerned over the prospect of further hikes to energy costs, it has been revealed.
Energy experts cited in a report from the Times recently predicted that energy bills could rise by 40 per cent by the end of the year.
Gas and electricity bills have already risen by an average of 15 per cent, after suppliers hiked tariffs earlier this year.
In a poll conducted by moneysupermarket.com, just one in seven of those survey said they could afford their bills if they were to rise again.
Paul Schofield, head of utilities at moneysupermarket.com, said: "With price rises on the horizon it is even more important to get on the best value tariff for their area and usage.
"At a time when people are tightening their belts the prospect of energy price hikes is a daunting one - especially as only one in seven of us could afford more expensive bills."
