Britons raise CTF contributions
Britons are defying the squeeze on household incomes and contributing more and more to Child Trust Funds (CTFs), new figures have shown.
Data from the Tax Incentivised Savings Association (Tisa) found that the average lump sum contribution stood at £488 during the second quarter - up from £404 last year.
Monthly contributions recorded by the organisation were also up from £21.20 to £21.86.
Tony Vine-Lott, Tisa director general, commented: "Bearing in mind the financial ‘squeeze' that is affecting so many families at the moment, the continuing increase in the level of regular savings into a CTF is particularly encouraging.
"I would like to encourage more parents to commit to saving a regular amount into a CTF, obviously at whatever level they can best afford. It's vitally important that children see the tangible benefits of saving at an early age."
