Bike fans urged to insure their cycles
With more and more Britons taking to their bikes to avoid paying sky high prices for petrol, making sure that your bike is covered is more than important than ever, it has been claimed.
The growth in the popularity of cycling has been attributed in part to mounting environmental awareness but more recently it is petrol hitting 119p per litre that it was driving people to saddle up.
However, with people consequently coming to rely on their bike more, in turn the need to ensure it is insured is more pressing, according to Peter head of moneysupermarket.com.
He said: "With petrol prices hitting astronomical heights there seems no better time than now to get peddling.
"However, it's important to consider how well insured your bike is, just as you would your car."
The site claims that adding a bike to home insurance cover can be done for as little as £10 per year for models worth less than £500.
