ASDA launches property site
ASDA has joined the ranks of online property portals with the launch of a new website today.
The homesinstore.com site offers sellers the opportunity to advertise their homes online for a payment of £35 per week.
This outlay will also see properties for rent and for sale advertised in ASDA's retail outlets.
The site has hitherto only advertised homes in the north-east, but following a successful trial will now be extended to the South-east, Kent and Essex.
News of the move comes after Tesco Property Market was ordered to suspend trading last year when the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) ruled the organisation was acting as an estate agent and as such would have to follow relevant rules.
Tesco was also fined by the OFT.
Despite the onset of a downturn in the property market the market for advertising property on the internet is growing.
