A&L challenges Brits to get financially fit
With the Olympics a matter of days away, Britons who cite financial hurdles as the reason for their lack of savings have been issued a sporting challenge by Alliance & Leicester (A&L).
The building society has called on cash-strapped Britons to overcome their financial constraints by putting aside £2 per week from now until the next Olympics in 2012.
The benefits of doing so are highlighted by the fact that depositing the sums in a high interest savings accounts would see their money swell to over £2,500 in four years time, making consumers
significantly financially fitter than they were previously.
Hetal Parmar, manager for savings at the lender, said: "Even by starting with a small "warm up" amount each month, saved in a high interest account, Brits can build up a nice sum of money without breaking much of a sweat!
"It's important to remember that saving today will provide security for tomorrow."
A&L's eSaver online account pays interest of 6.50 per cent AER.
