Pension funds 'make poor returns in 2007'
Pension savers across the UK are unlikely to welcome new figures assessing the success of funds in 2007.
According to price comparisons site moneyfacts.co.uk, the year proved to provide limited returns for many investors seeking help with money in their retirement.
The firm says that the average pension fund posted growth of only 5.41 per cent, compared to a 2006 figure of 9.17 per cent.
In 2005, meanwhile, average growth of just less than 20 per cent was recorded.
Richard Eagling, editor of Investment Life & Pensions at Moneyfacts.co.uk, said: "Only those pension savers who hold more aggressive funds investing in the Far East and global emerging markets will look back at the last twelve months with any real sense of achievement."
Last year, the government encouraged consumers concerned about the help with money set to be available to them in retirement to visit the National Pensions Debate website and have their say on future policy.
