New buyers 'benefit from Hips'
The first-time buyer market is the only one currently benefiting from the government's home information pack (Hip) scheme, it has been claimed.
Sector personal finance specialist FirstRungNow states that members of the group are gaining genuine benefit from the scheme intended to provide help with money to all buyers.
Hips are intended to reduce the number of sales falling through by providing prospective buyers with as much information as possible - although the home condition report, originally intended to be part of the packs, never became obligatory.
Helen Adams, managing director of FirstRungNow, said that it would be helpful if people would include more information than the "bare minimum" when selling their home.
"Any information related to bills and council tax - the outlays and costs - ... can also help the first-time buyer budget," she added.
The money news follows recent figures from Nationwide revealing that consumer confidence in the UK is currently at its lowest point since last February.
