NAEA restates CLG criticism
Home Information Packs have received yet more criticism from one industry body this week, as the troubled scheme moves into the new year.
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) states that it feels compelled to voice once again its criticism of the way Communities and Local Government (CLG) has handled the scheme.
It has taken the move following a critical report from the select committee tasked with scrutinising the project.
The second report of the year published on Thursday accuses the department of failing to deliver on the packs, which were identified as a key priority for 2007.
Peter Bolton King, chief executive at the NAEA, comments: "Time and time again we urged the government to listen to us and take our concerns seriously.
"We made our feelings clear both privately and publicly so there can have been no doubt what our concerns were and why we had them."
However, he asserted, the department had consistently failed to take such worries on board.
Home information packs have received criticism from a number of quarters, including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - particularly when the home condition report was removed as a mandatory aspect of the scheme.
