Markets 'could be rocky' in run-up to summer
Financial markets look set to remain volatile in the coming weeks and months, according to a poll of personal finance experts.
Research conducted by Liverpool Victoria suggests that almost nine out of ten (87 per cent) financial advisers believe that markets are likely to be "turbulent" in the near term.
The firm says that its survey supports a statement from the Financial Services Authority that suggested a "very real prospect" of worsening conditions in the coming months.
Among other findings, the research indicates that four in ten advisers believe the property market is set for a downturn in the next six months - more than double the number forecasting a rise in values.
Ray Chinn, head of pensions at Liverpool Victoria comments: "It is ... vitally important that advisers have access to products that are relevant to the needs of today's at and post-retirement clients, offering a real range of investment options to suit different economic conditions."
The finance news follows reports from the National Association of Pension Funds stating that many pension funds have made efforts to reduce exposure to high-risk investments to reassure consumers about the help with money they provide.
