Insulation for the vulnerable 'welcome'
Governmental plans to ensure improved insulation for consumers aged over 70 has been welcomed as "very good news" by one industry body.
The National Insulation Association (NIA) has congratulated the government on the scheme, which is also intended to extend to those on low incomes.
Neil Marshall, chief executive of the association, remarks: "For the first time (from April 1st 2008) all people aged 70 and over will be entitled to insulation and the persons in this age group should be directed to an NIA member installer for further information".
In related money news, Legal & General recently advised consumers to conduct a winter home health check.
It stated that, with the Met Office forecasting a colder winter than last year, homeowners could gain significant help with finance by making sure that appropriate lagging and other insulation is installed.
Legal & General added that ensuring appropriate cover is in place can also help to avoid a personal finance disaster and later trouble with debt.
