Green mortgage market 'not hit by credit crunch'
The green mortgage market has remained relatively stable in spite of the impact of credit squeeze, according to building society Norwich and Peterborough.
A spokesperson for the company said that the number of people applying for green mortgages as a means of help with money has remained stable because they are more interested in ethical concerns than rate fluctuations.
Green mortgages are policies that are better for the environment and many make charitable donations to organisations that aim to reduce the impact of climate change, mortgages.co.uk states.
Other policies will only finance properties that can be seen to be environmentally sound.
Norwich and Peterborough spokesperson Alison Rolls has said the mortgage provider has experienced no significant difference in the number of people applying for green mortgages in recent months.
She added that she would be "very surprised" if there was any change in the number of applications.
