Fixed-rate bonds 'an attractive option'
Fixed-rate bonds are once again proving to be an attractive option for homeowners, it has been claimed.
A spate of new low APR products means that these bonds are now making an impression on the market, according to moneysupermarket.com
Only this week Alliance & Leicester unveiled a fixed-rate one-year bond with a seven per cent AER, while Nationwide has launched a range of bonds ranging from 5.75 to 6.25 per cent AER.
"Fixed rate products, which command a level of consumer commitment and therefore limit providers' exposure to risk, now have very strong one and two year rates," said a spokesperson for the price comparison site.
"I would suggest anyone interested in these bonds moves quickly - who knows how long they will last for."
As well as new bonds by Nationwide and Alliance & Leicester, Abbey has issued a new fixed-rate bond, in addition to a 50+ bond and a children's savings bond.
