Direct Line: Vandalism victims' no claims discount protected
Direct Line is offering to protect the no claims discounts of any car insurance customers who fall victim to vandalism and find their windows broken or their tyres slashed.
Research from the insurer shows that seven per cent of car owners suffered some form of deliberate damage to their vehicle last year.
Claiming on insurance will lead many to lose their no claims discount, which they may have built up over several years of careful driving and which will provide help with finance by allowing them secure cheaper premiums.
In response to this problem Direct Line has launched its no claims discount protection to put customers' minds at rest, particularly those whose cars are often left parked in vulnerable areas.
Tony Chilcott, a spokesperson for Direct Line, said: "Unprovoked damage to your car is frustrating and distressing enough, without having the added worry of paying for the damage."
Research from Carparts-direct.co.uk shows that most vehicle crime occurs on Friday and Saturday evenings, often fuelled by alcohol, and during the winter months when it is dark for longer.
