BBA offers 2008 finance tips
As the new year begins, many people will be forging new year's resolutions - and one personal finance institution has offered some suggestions for gaining greater help with money in 2008.
The British Bankers' Association (BBA) states that for many people 2008 is set to be a difficult year financially.
However, it adds that simple steps can be taken to lessen the burden - for instance checking bank statements to make sure that spending is under control.
Consumers are also advised to arrange to pay monthly wherever possible in order to spread the cost of bills and other personal finance pressures.
Angela Knight, chief executive of the BBA, remarks: "If the worst happens and you get into difficulty, talk to your lender before signing up for 'get-of-out-debt-free' scheme you might see advertised as there is no such thing."
She also advises starting to save more - especially given the "good offers" available from a number of lenders.
Recently, Friends Provident revealed that green concerns were becoming a major factor in dictating Briton's new year's resolutions in 2008.
