Opening the door to property success
Choosing the right coloured door can play a part in whether you are successful in selling your house, new research suggests.
Britons are advised to steer clear of some shades, with 35 per cent of those people asked on behalf of Co-operative Bank Mortgages saying they would not buy a house with a pink door.
Conversely those with white doors are much more likely to meet with approval - one third said this was their preferred colour.
Also popular were red doors (20 per cent) and blue (16 per cent), while green and brown were also give the thumbs up and made the top five.
Co-operative Bank head of mortgages John Barker said: "Although moving home can be a stressful time for people, the research shows there are many small changes people can make, which can really enhance the appeal of their property."
He added: "We would also encourage home movers to look beyond the purely cosmetic details of a property and do as much research as possible to ensure they make themselves aware of the various information sources available and get the best property for their needs and budget."
The property market is starting to cool according to the latest figures, with Nationwide today pointing to a drop in the annual rate of house price inflation from 4.2 per cent to 2.7 per cent.
