NLA landlord enquiries hit record levels
Buy to let landlords are increasingly turning to professional bodies for advice over their investment, it has been revealed.
According to the National Landlords Association (NLA) a phone line set up solely to offer help to landlords received 122 enquiries per day over the course of 2007 - the most the NLA has ever recorded.
These took in everything from a landlord who visited his property only to find that a brick outbuilding had been replaced with a gazebo and another equally intriguing case of a tenant moving a property's kitchen without receiving permission.
However, the most common subjects of calls involved tenant deposit protection and the ever present problem of troublesome tenants.
David Salisbury, NLA chairman, said: "As there are more and more issues landlords have to consider, it is unsurprising record numbers are calling the NLA Advice Line for help.
"For some they are seeking confirmation of a certain course of action but for others they require more detailed advice."
