More Brits looking at overseas property investment
Property purchases overseas are appealing to more and more Britons, it has been revealed.
Figures from HiFX's Global Emigration Hotspots Report showed that the number of Britons enquiring about emigrating rose 22 per cent in 2007 from the previous year.
Of these, Australia saw the most dramatic upswing in interest, with 15 per cent more Britons lodging requests.
However, strong interest was also recorded for Spain, France, New Zealand, Canada and the US.
Mark Bodega, director of HiFX, attributed the exodus to the relative affordability of property overseas and economic conditions that are making emigration more attractive.
He explained: "A strong pound, rising house prices and good job opportunities abroad tend to be main reasons for Brits to emigrate.
"However different destinations hold different appeal and changes to the migration process in certain countries is really affecting the numbers of people choosing to move there."
