London romantics splash the cash
Men based in the capital are the UK's most romantic and generous partners, according to a new survey.
London males are said to be head and shoulders above their regional peers when it comes to lavishing money on their loved ones, spending an average of £2,458 per year.
The figures is more than double the average overall in the UK - £1,015 - and, according to the Moneysupermarket.com research, is comfortably more than the average spend on other outgoings.
Chief among these is cars, with men spending an average of £191 each year – something Moneysupermarket.com director Richard Mason said was encouraging.
"It's a pleasant surprise that romance hasn't been replaced with rev," he commented. "I'd feared many women out there would have been feeling a distant number two to man's four-wheeled friend."
Couples in the north of England were found to be the least willing to spend large sums on each other - the average there was just £873
