Lloyds TSB bank accounts target the 'mobile generation'
Lloyds TSB is set to bolster the appeal of its range of added value accounts with a set of new features.
The overhaul of the products has been undertaken so that they better reflect the concerns of what the lender dubs the "mobile generation", which it defines as young people who now regard mobile telephones as indispensable.
As a result, customers signing up for the accounts will be able to use the new Save My Numbers feature, which backs up their prized mobile phone numbers.
Perhaps more importantly however, Lloyds TSB has also increased the mobile phone insurance it offers for account holders to £2,000 - a move which it said is in line with the "rising cost of handsets including iPhones and Blackberry phones".
Ian Larkin, managing director of consumer banking, Lloyds TSB, said: "The new Save My Numbers service is likely to prove a real life-saver for our customers and a valuable addition to their existing package of benefits. Mobile phones are an essential part of the fabric of modern life.
"We are becoming increasingly reliant on them, not only to keep in contact with people but also to receive important information."
