Kids relying on mum and dad for longer
Rising living costs mean that more and more young people are relying on their parents for financial support.
According to a poll conducted by Engage Mutual Assurance, 46 per cent of parents are currently still providing financial assistance - with the same proportion saying they expect to continue to do so until they are in their 60s.
The phenomenon, which has prompted commentators to dub the children the Bank of Mum and Dad generation, has been brought about by the difficulty of moving onto the housing ladder - as well as the generally higher expense of living.
Karl Elliot, spokesperson for Engage Mutual Assurance, said the findings highlighted the need for families to consider their financial future and devote time to planning for the future.
He commented: "Rising costs in Britain mean that not only do families need to plan ahead financially and carefully manage their money, they are also turning to each other for support."
